- Write it down! When I write down what's troubling me, it doesn't stay running around and growing bigger in my head.
- When the answers come, write them down too.
- Turn my fears in to my prayers. Keep a list of fears, concerns and pray for each one. Give it to the Lord and then don't take it back. Be available and listen for what He wants you to do.
- EAT at least 3 meals. Protein in the morning helps me tremendously.
- A good multi-vitamin helps me too. My doctor had me taking 2000 mg of non-flushing Niacin (the non-flushing is important otherwise you get hot flashes) for cholesterol. After my cholesterol was down, I stayed on it because it helps my moods.
- Slow down if I'm feeling rushed. If I'm bored, get busy with things that matter.
- Do something everyday that stays done, ie. not the dishes, laundry...more like organize one drawer. Wash a wall, etc.
- Get help! Friends are great for mild episodes but I need to be careful not to lean on them too hard. If I'm drowning, I need to see a professional rather than pull a friend under water with me.
- Don't panic about the panic...It helps me to realize that panic is part of my life. This too will pass.
- You are not alone. Heavenly Father is watching over you and is always there. Pray in your heart, in your home, in your car, wherever. There is nothing I can't talk to Him about and He truly has all the answers. Answers are in the scriptures as well.
- Be GENTLE with yourself. Cut yourself slack. We are worth the food it takes to feed us, the money it takes to live, the air we're breathing.
- Challenge your fear before you challenge your faith in God, in yourself, in others.
- Music is very powerful and can help to bring me into a complete different mindset. I love all kinds of music. I've found that music can dispel darkness -- "Police in West Palm Beach say crime decreased as much as 40 percent in some public parks where classical music was played over speakers, Coburn said. The plan has also reportedly met with success in Duncan, British Columbia, where classical music was used to combat chronic drug dealing. Police officials in Sydney, Australia, say crime went down at several public transit stations after classical music began to be played there." ...http://articles.courant.com/2006-03 04/news/0603040522_1_drug-dealers-classical-music-clean
- Read Scriptures. Prayer is how we talk to God. Reading scripture is one of the ways that God talks to us.
